On December 27, the National University of Itapúa (UNI) in Paraguay inaugurated the Office for Circular Economy and Sustainable Development (ODEC), with the participation of academic and administrative representatives.

Supported by the UNI Vice-Rectorate under the Institutional Strategic Plan (PEI) 2025–2029 and backed by the Fundación Universitaria Itapúa (FUNDUNI), the initiative received praise from the Rector, who thanked key partners like the University of Florence and Fundación EUROSUR. Vice-Rector Dr. Nelly Monges de Insfrán described ODEC as a long-awaited dream with a strong regional impact.

Faculty deans emphasized their dedication to involving students, researchers, and staff to achieve objectives such as specialized training, environmental awareness campaigns, and research projects to enhance community well-being.
